11 Day Uganda Safari

This 11-days tour will start in Entebbe and end in Kigali. It will take you to Mabamba Swamp Bay which is the largest wetland on the shores of Lake Victoria good for birding but also most intriguing home for the Shoebill Storks which are a rare sight to many birding enthusiasts. This tour will further take you to Northwestern Uganda and Western Uganda to destinations like Murchison falls National park where you will visit the only existing rhino sanctuary in Uganda at Ziwa, view a big number of wildlife species in the park on 2 game drives, tour to the top of the falls where the thunderous falls squeeze their way through gorge that is 8m wide. This tour will continue to take you to Kibale forest national park for a chimpanzee trekking adventure with a visit to the Bigodi swamp and Queen Elizabeth National park for more a wildlife adventure on a visit to Isasha sector to see tree-climbing lions as they climb up to the fig trees and hang out during the day. The only place in Uganda to see tree climbing is only in this park and the experience is very adorable. The tour will end with a rare experience trekking Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest, a River Trail Hiking adventure from Buhoma to Nkuringo, Golden monkeys tracking with a relaxing stay and a Boat trip at the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi.

  • DAY 1: PICKUP AND TRANSFER TO BOOKED YOUR ACCOMMODATION

    • On arrival at Entebbe International you will be welcomed; our Twist African safari tour guide/ driver will be having a chart bearing your group name for easy recognition. He will welcome you and transfer to your booked accommodation in Kampala. You will then be briefed about your safari on arriving at the hotel then check in and relax.

    DAY 2: MABAMBA SWAMP TOUR AND BOAT CRUISE ON LAKE VICTORIA.

    After an early morning breakfast you will be picked by our tour guide from your hotel to start the drive to Nakiwogo landing site where you will take a boat to Mabamba swamp bay. With the help of your guide and a local guide you will take a 3- 4 hours tour on a canoe to the swamp bay paddling through narrow water channels surrounded by dense swamp vegetation. Expect to see a number of different Bird species like the rare shoebill stork, African Jacana, African fish eagle, Black kite Papyrus Genolek, Weyns weaver, Ducks and Egrets among many other birds.

    After this adventure you will enjoy a 2 hours boat cruise on Lake Victoria to end this day activities, transfer back to your accommodation for lunch relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    DAY 3: RHINO TREKKING AND TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

    After your morning breakfast, you will be picked and transfer to Murchison falls National park where you will drive through several towns. You will make your first stop at the famous Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for 2 hours trek to where the endangered White rhinoceros are bred. You will see a number of rhinos and other animals at the rhino sanctuary like antelopes, monkeys among others. Drive to Masindi town for lunch and proceed on to your final destination.

    Arriving at Murchison falls national park, you will encounter several baboons along the way to visit the top of the falls. The experience at the mighty falls is so breath taking and photos are quite un avoidable. Later drive to your booked accommodation for check- in, relaxation, dinner and over- night.

    DAY 4 : MORNING GAME DRIVE – AFTERNOON LAUNCH CRUISE – HIKE TO TOP OF FALLS

    You will wake up to a morning breakfast by 6:00 am, then drive to the park entrance for a 5 hours game drive. Expect to see many animals including the giraffes, lions, hyenas, water bucks, elephants, buffalos, antelopes- many species of birds among others. After the game drive, you will enjoy your lunch as you prepare to have an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River.

    This cruise is spectacular as it allows you to get up close to the aquatic animals such as hippos, crocodiles, water bucks, buffaloes, elephants etc. Among the birds commonly seen on the boat cruise include the goliath heron, king fisher, weaver birds, bee eater, cattle egrets and the beautiful scenery along the bank. At the bottom of the falls, you will climb to the top of the falls and take photos at the rocks below

    DAY 5: TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

    Have a leisurely breakfast, check out and then embark on your journey to Kibale national park which is a primate destination and a home to over 1400 chimpanzees, you will drive through the countryside, enjoy the remarkable landscapes of different tea plantations before arriving in Fort portal. Have a stopover for lunch in Fort portal town and then proceed to your accommodation which is located in the Crater lakes region for check in, relaxation, dinner and over night.

    DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND BIGODI WETLAND TOUR

    Have breakfast, carry your packed lunches and transfer to the briefing point where you will be taken through the code of conduct in the forest, you will then be allocated to a chimpanzee community to trek with the lead of your ranger guide on the search of chimps. The experience in memorable as you will listen to the sounds / noises of the chimpanzees in the forest, watch them in their natural habitat as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, feed, play and rest. This activity takes between 2 to 7 hours.

    Have your lunches and explore the Bigodi swamp area on a guided walk. This visit is filled with spectacular birds like the Great Blue Turaco, lots of butterflies, plants and animals like different monkeys, Bush bucks, antelopes etc. After this experience you will take a village walk that will lead you for a coffee experience, banana beer making, among others. Later embark on the journey to back to your accommodation for relaxation dinner and overnight.

    DAY 7: TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK VIA ISASHA SECTOR

    After your morning breakfast, you will check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National park through Isasha sector which is the only existing place in Uganda to see the famous tree-climbing lions. You will see these lions climbing up to the fig trees and over 4- 6 of them laying on the branches of the trees which makes this a memorable adventure.

    Besides lions, you will see other different wildlife species like elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, among others. You will have lunch on en route and then proceed to your booked accommodation in Bwindi Impenetrable National park for check in and relaxation.

    You may opt to have an optional guided community tour to visit the Batwa people who live in the Bwindi forest on this day where they will take you through their cultural songs, dance, and activities for example how to make fire with wood. After this activity you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

    DAY 8: HIKING TRAIL BWINDI BUHOMA-NKURINGO

    After an early morning breakfast, with your packed lunches you will drive to the park head quarters for briefing and start your 6-7 hours trail to Nkuringo sector. This trail crosses at the junction of 2 rivers amidst the forest. During the trail, you will spot a number of primates, monkeys, birds in the rain forest. On arrival to Nkuringo sector you will meet our safari guide to drive you to your booked accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    DAY 9: GORILLA TREKKING EXPERIENCE AND TRANSFER TO MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK

    You will wake up at 6:00 am to refresh and have an early breakfast before setting off for your gorilla trekking adventure with your packed lunches. You will arrive at the park headquarters where briefing will take place about the code of conduct while visiting the forest. This excursion takes between 2 to 7 hours to encounter a habituated gorilla family.

    With the help of well-armed park rangers, you will start the trek and you will be allowed to be with the gorillas for an hour once you come to meet them. Besides gorillas this Impenetrable Forest is full of different birds species, butterflies, plant species plus forest hog, statungas and dikers. Have your packed lunches then head back to the park head- quarters where you will be rewarded certificates for completing a Gorilla trek in Uganda. Drive back to the lodge for refreshment and checkout to start your drive to Mgahinga National park. On arrival you will check in at the lodge relax, dinner and overnight.

    DAY 10: GOLDEN MONKEYS TREK AND TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI

    You will wake up to refresh and have an early breakfast before setting off to the park headquarters where briefing will take place about the Golden monkey trekking. You will have an hour of trekking the Golden monkeys, besides seeing monkeys, you will view different birds, butterflies and plant species in the forest.

    Drive back to the lodge for lunch and transfer to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi Africa’s second deepest Lake which is a perfect relaxation place to end your safari. Once you arrive at your booked accommodation you will be welcomed by the beautiful views the Lake and a few islands can be spotted from your lodge. Check in to your room and have a great relaxation time at the hotel with dinner and an overnight stay.

    DAY 11: MORNING BOAT RIDE LAKE BUNYONYI AND TRANSFER TO KAMPALA

    Waking up to the beautiful views of the lake, you will have a leisurely breakfast and drive to the Landing site of the Lake for a 2 hours local Boat experience check where you will have a chance to go through the 27 different Islands at the beautiful and peaceful lake Bunyonyi such as Punishment island, Sharp island among many others.

    You will learn about the history of the lake through the guidance of a local tour guide. Expect to view some Bird species on the boat ride and later head back to the Lodge to check out and start your journey to Kampala. You will have a lunch en route along the way to the Airport to catch your flight back home or to your booked accommodation in Kampala
