HORSE BACK RIDING TOUR

Horseback riding done in Lake Mburo national park and Jinja, it is an awesome experience and a beautiful way of seeing wild animals minus the sound of vehicles, horseback riding tours is an initiative of Mihingo lodge in Lake Mburo national one of the smallest conservation areas in Uganda located close to the western high way, it is a diverse habitat of open savannah, thickets, forest, rocky out crops, lakes and rivers which are habitats for various wildlife roaming freely. Horseback riding takes along the banks of the Nile in Jinja it is an adventurous activity as you get to explore the villages and beautiful landscapes taking in fresh breaths of the River Nile.

Lake Mburo national park offers an amazing experience, it’s the only Ugandan park safe for horseback riding due to less predators living within the park area, it is has well distributed game routes to follow while viewing wild life. Mihingo safari lodge a luxury facility offers the experience to visitors, they initiated the horse ride tour running 7 horses, a maximum of 6 participants is allowed on a trip, several animal species are spotted including Topi, Elands, zebras, giraffes, primates like olive baboons, vervet monkeys and respectable bird kinds. The safari covers everybody whether a learner or an experienced ridder, rates are based on the time spend with the horse while in the wilderness.

Horseback riding in Uganda’s Lake Mburo enables you to get off the usual tracks looking out for more of the wildlife, animals are more comfortable with fellow species rather than vehicles, this way one can get close to the wild animals taking perfect photography and clear views of how it really looks like. The horse riding in Jinja experience is along the banks of River Nile longest of rivers in the whole world, the tours are accompanied by one or two experience guides for 1-5 hours’ time depending on how much time one would love to spend, having angelic views of the lower Nile valley and seeing the African traditional villages.  They offer overnight safaris for experienced ridders, mixed groups of all levels of riders are also arranged, and children rides are available with a watch from a guide the horse riding is in two sessions at 10:00 am and 2:00pm.

A minimum of 2 riders is allowed for the overnight trips, horses are well trained healthy and calm to accommodate any riders experienced level. Brief training is given to beginners before they start on their horseback riding tour in Uganda. The maximum weight that these horses carry is 100kgs adjustable helmets are provided as well as ridding chaps, strong shoes and long trousers are recommendable on these tour.

Horseback riding in Uganda can be done all year round but best during the dry season of December –February and June to mid-September, in this season, animals are easily spotted as they gather around water areas. The park is accessed through two main gates the Sanga and Nshara gates it is a 3 hours’ drive from Kampala Uganda’s capital approximately 228 km managed under the Uganda wildlife authority. 1 day birding safari
